Foster Care/Adoption
When you enter the world of foster care and adoption, it may feel as if your entire life is turned upside down. Everything you once knew may feel the complete opposite, as you navigate a system that is so uniquely complex. Oftentimes, foster and adoptive parents express feeling isolated from friends and family who do not have experience in the world of foster care and adoption. You may encounter people attempting to say or do the “right” things, when you really just need someone to be there to listen.
How can therapy help support those impacted by Foster Care & Adoption?
In therapy, our hope is to provide you with a safe and comfortable space to process your experience with foster care and/or adoption. When placed with a therapist that has background knowledge of foster care and adoption, you will not have to explain the intricacies of the system which can at times highlight the feeling of isolation. Therapy will provide you the space to process the seemingly conflicting, yet often coexisting, emotions you encounter on a daily basis. Our goal is for you to leave feeling well supported and equipped, as you continue to provide compassionate care to the children entrusted to you.
