Stress & Overwhelm
Stress is a natural part of life, and oftentimes drives us to success. There is good and bad stress that we all experience. When a teen feels stressed going into a big exam, that is normal but also shows they care about what is in front of them. When a parent hears their child crying, they may feel stressed because they care about their child's safety. It is normal to feel stressed by the demands of life. It is when stress begins to consume you and your thoughts, that it becomes overwhelming to handle. Prolonged stress can lead to health implications- headaches, fatigue, anxiety, lack of motivation, substance misuse, and more.
When stress overwhelms our thoughts, it often interferes with our daily functioning, including completing work tasks and making decisions. This feeling of being overwhelmed can lead to additional stress and less productivity at home and work. If you begin to feel stuck in those feelings of stress, missing opportunities, or unable to live in the present, it is time to seek help.
How can therapy help stress and overwhelm?
