Family Counseling
Families are an integral part of healthy, functioning individuals and we believe that if one family member is struggling, it can disrupt the entire system. Family dynamics are unique, complex, and sometimes painful. Family members can be a source of encouragement and support and sometimes hurtfulness. It takes hard work, thoughtful, intentional communication, and the willingness to look at things from another person’s perspective.
Issues we work with:
Major life transitions
Ineffective communication
Concerns for aging parents
Conflict within the family
Sibling issues
Divorce/separation
Financial difficulties
Impact of substance abuse or mental illness on the family
Grief (loss of family member or pet)
Immigration and refugees
How can therapy help?
We strive to create a warm, welcoming space where families can strengthen their bond and nurture change. We can help identify patterns that may not be serving the family well, and we help remove those “roadblocks” that keep the family from functioning in its healthiest state. Family therapy is typically short-term and solutions focused. Our therapists help you in identifying blind spots and getting to the root of the issue, acting as an unbiased third party.
