Faith Integration
From a Christian worldview perspective, the meta story of the Bible provides the backdrop for seeing ourselves, others, and the world around us. The trials and sin struggles we all experience as humans living in a broken world are seen as a result of the Fall. But because of Christ we are not without hope of redemption and ultimate restoration of all things.
When integrating faith into counseling this biblical lens for seeing life as well as other biblical principles, values and beliefs are woven in with evidence-based therapeutic practices to help bring healing. This approach recognizes the importance of spirituality in addressing mental health concerns and emphasizes the holistic well-being of individuals.
How might faith be incorporated into therapy?
Faith integration is not a one-size-fits-all. How it looks is largely dependent on you and your therapist. Counselors may use theological concepts, scripture, and/or prayer to help clients navigate their challenges within a framework of faith. This integration aims to support clients in developing resilience, finding meaning, and fostering spiritual growth while addressing their emotional and psychological needs. If you would like faith to be a component of your therapeutic healing, talk to your counselor and together you all can decide what faith integration might look like for you.
